ACADEMIC PROGRAMS

St. Gregory’s University offers a curriculum that integrates the breadth and scope of classical liberal arts along with the professional application of more than 31 major areas of study in five degree programs.

The Common Core Curriculum is a sequence of courses that are required of all students in the College of Arts and Sciences.  The heart of this curriculum is our distinctive “Tradition and Conversation” program. The four-semester sequence of “Great Books” seminars provides students opportunity to actively engage, dynamically interact, and learn from some of the most significant minds and texts of the Catholic and Western intellectual tradition.

Small learning communities meet each week to debate and discuss Homer, Plato, Aristotle, St. Augustine of Hippo, St. Benedict, St. Thomas Aquinas, Dante, Shakespeare, Jane Austen, Flannery O’Connor and Martin Luther King, Jr.

The Common Core Curriculum also includes courses which represent and examine “Four Ways of Knowing”

     • Faith and Reason
     • Creative Expression
     • Social
     • Behavioral Science, Mathematics and Natural Science.

Students choose an academic major area of study in one of five basic degree programs – Business, Humanities, Natural Science, Social Science or Theology. The academic major provides students with an in-depth look into an academic discipline, while ensuring that they are familiar and acquainted with the broader interdisciplinary examination and relationship to their area of study.
