Intro to Lindy Hop Class
St. Gregory's University Dance program and the Department of Visual and Performing Arts will host an Intro to Lindy Hop class with Dr. Valerie Plaus and members of the Oklahoma Swing Dance Company on Thursday, April 10 from 7 p.m. to 10 p.m.
Lindy Hop is a fun, energetic style of dance that was performed to swing music from the late 1920s through the 1940s. Recently, people all over the country have rediscovered the Lindy Hop and the lively culture of the jazz age out of which it sprang.
For the first hour, there will be a Lindy Hop lesson, teaching some of the basics, as well as how to lead and follow. It’s a couple dance, but you don’t have to bring a partner. We’ll switch out partners all night. After the lesson, there will be a DJed dance until 10 PM.
Bring clean shoes to avoid tracking any mud into the dance studio, and ladies, flats are better than heels.
$5 per person for the entire evening and everyone is welcome to attend - students, faculty and staff, friends, family and community members!
