Just a little over one year after the official launch of the Catholic Nursing Program, St. Gregory’s University was granted provisional approval by the Oklahoma Board of Nursing (OBSN) to offer a Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) degree.
St. Gregory’s University students and staff members took the 20 hour journey from Shawnee to Washington D.C. to participate in the 2015 March for Life on Thursday, January 22.
March for Life takes place on the anniversary of the Roe v. Wade decision that legalized abortion on demand in the United States. The day’s events included a rally on the National Mall followed by a march to the U.S. Supreme Court.
St. Gregory’s junior Sofia Weigel has been a part of the March for the past two years, and said being part of the college group has made the experience worthwhile.
The St. Gregory’s University Board of Directors recently appointed Robert G. Dolan, Jr. and Alan Staab as members of the Board.
“We are pleased that Mr. Dolan and Mr. Staab will join our board and bring their considerable business expertise and philanthropic experience to the table. They are highly regarded within both the Catholic and statewide community,” said D. Gregory Main, president of St. Gregory’s University. “The University will benefit from their wise leadership as we continue to implement new programs and grow.”
St. Gregory’s University will host a free information session for individuals who are interested in earning an associate’s, bachelor’s or master’s degree through its College of Continuing Studies Adult Degree Program.
The College of Continuing Studies at St. Gregory’s offers flexible class schedules, personalized attention from start to finish and a faculty that is comprised of real world experts who provide a challenging Catholic Liberal Arts education to students.
A total of 72 CAS students were named to the President’s or Dean’s List at St. Gregory’s University for the Fall 2014 semester.
To qualify for the Dean’s List, students must be attending school full-time and earn a grade point average between 3.5-3.99. To qualify for the President’s List, students must be attending school full-time and earn a 4.0 grade point average.
The following students earned academic honors at St. Gregory’s:
St. Gregory’s University will hold a blessing ceremony of the new grotto and statue of Our Lady of Guadalupe as part of the celebration of the Feast Day of Our Lady of Guadalupe on Friday, December 12 at 3 p.m.
Mass will begin at 3 p.m. in the Abbey Church, followed by a procession to the grotto on the mound in front of Benedictine Hall where the blessing will be held. All are invited to attend.
St. Gregory’s University is presenting a free Christmas concert, Festival of Lessons and Carols, at 5 p.m. this Sunday in the historic St. Gregory’s Abbey Church on campus. The concert will feature seasonal music performed by St. Gregory’s Schola Cantorum, as well as readings from scripture that narrate the story of Advent and Christmas.
St. Gregory’s University, St. Gregory’s Abbey and the Mabee-Gerrer Museum of Art will celebrate the arrival of all seven volumes of The Saint John’s Bible Heritage Edition with a special opening event on December 14 from 1 p.m. – 6 p.m. The event is free and open to the public.
St. Gregory’s University visual arts major Emily Grygier will host the opening of her senior arts exhibition this Friday, December 5 from 4:30 p.m. – 7 p.m. in the Student Life Center located in the Rockwood Center on the Shawnee campus.
The exhibition, titled Wide-Eyed Dreams, reflects the variety of her artistic exploration and features images of dancers or movement prominently among her pieces. Grygier, a senior from Pearland, Texas, will be graduating in May with a double major in visual arts and dance
The Dance Department at St. Gregory’s University will hold open auditions for its spring ballet production, Danvers’ Lilly, Saturday, December 6 from 3 p.m to 5 p.m. at the Sarkeys Performing Arts Center.
Auditions are open to dancers 12 and up of all experience levels. Rehearsals will begin in February and will be held on week nights or weekend days, depending on dancer availability.
