Local Red Cross chapter recognizes St. Gregory’s partnership in 2013 storm recovery
St. Gregory's University was one of 13 organizations from the Shawnee and Pottawatomie areas honored by American Red Cross who aided throughout the severe storm of May 2013.
"We want to honor our partners by awarding them face-to-face and thank them for all their hard work during the response, many of whom continue to work with us on the recovery," expressed Susan Morris, the Disaster Services and Community Resiliency Specialist.
President D. Gregory Main was on hand to receive a plaque that read, "After the May 2013 storms, your partnership with the American Red Cross provided hope to thousands of Oklahomans. Thank you for making the relief efforts possible."
On the back, a heart-warming message reads, "A simple message says so much. In the weeks, following the storms, hundreds of cards just like this one poured into the American Red Cross. The simplicity of the drawing reflects the eternal hope found in children. It is a message we all share and a reminder of the Red Cross mission to ensure the sun shines again."
