St. Gregory’s University will host its annual commencement ceremony this Saturday, May 14 at 11 a.m. in the Don & Jenetta Sumner Fieldhouse on the St. Gregory’s campus in Shawnee. Over 175 students are set to graduate with their associate, bachelor’s or master’s degrees from both the Shawnee and Tulsa campus.
St. Gregory’s will host the Windsong Chamber Choir concert Mysticism in Music on Tuesday, May 10 at 7:30 p.m. in the St. Gregory’s Abbey Chapel. There is no charge for attendance, however, donations to the ensemble will be accepted.
Rev. Don Wolf, Chairman of the Board of Directors for St. Gregory’s University, and Rt. Rev. Lawrence Stasyszen, O.S.B., St. Gregory’s University Chancellor, have named Father Charles Buckley, OSB, as acting President/CEO.
Fr. Charles is a long standing member of the monastic community at St. Gregory’s Abbey. He currently serves as a mathematics professor, but has served in a wide variety of roles throughout his time at St. Gregory’s, including a career counselor, dean of students and chaplain. He also served as Vice President for Academic Affairs from 2002-2005.
The Department of Visual and Performing Arts at St. Gregory’s University is pleased to announce its upcoming production of The 39 Steps, which opens Thursday, April 28 at 8 p.m. in the Sarkeys Performing Arts Center.
St. Gregory’s University is pleased to announce the opening of Anna Vacha’s senior visual arts exhibition “A Second Glance at Being” on Friday April 29 from 4:30 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. in the Campus Ministry Lounge, located in the Rockwood Center. The general public is invited to meet the artist and enjoy refreshments at the free event which will include live piano music by Ryoko Sanho and flute by Smaida Mara.
Dr. Jason Fugikawa, Assistant Professor in the Department of Theology at St. Gregory’s University, presented his paper “Where to Go from Me: Human Nature and the Theology of the Imago Dei” at the Fifth Annual Symposium on Advancing the New Evangelization hosted by Benedictine College in Atchison, Kan. on April 8 and 9.
St. Gregory’s University is pleased to announce the release of the Omnibus XI: The Odyssey of Mind, Body, and Spirit, a collection of original photography, art and written pieces complied by students and faculty over the past academic year.
Pure Golf, LLC, consisting of St. Gregory’s University business students, took third place out of six teams in the Small Business division at the 2016 Donald W. Reynolds Governor’s Cup.
The Pure Golf team included Brett Kennedy (senior), Bobby Stone (senior), Taylor Greteman (junior), Smaida Mara Rizzotto Vidal Pessoa (junior).
St. Gregory’s University will host the Hands of Mercy photography exhibit on Thursday, April 21 from 6:30 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. in the Shawnee Community Room, located in the Rockwood Center on St. Gregory’s Shawnee campus. The Hands of Mercy exhibit is part of the Year of Mercy Symposium Series, which was created in observance of Pope Francis’ Extraordinary Jubilee Year of Mercy. The collection of photographs will be revealed during the reception.
Two teams from the undergraduate business degree program at St. Gregory’s University were selected for their exceptional entrepreneurial skills in the small business division of the 2016 Donald W. Reynolds Governor’s Cup business plan competition. Stadi-Yumm, LLC and Pure Golf, LLC pitched their concepts at i2e, Inc., on Thursday, April 7.
