St. Gregory’s student attends 2014 Sovereignty Symposium
St. Gregory’s University student Randall Foye and Professor Emeritus Sr. Marcianne Kappes attended the 27th Annual Sovereignty Symposium, which was held June 4-5 at the historic Skirvin Hotel in Downtown Oklahoma City.
“As an Indian student, I felt fortunate to have had the opportunity to attend the Sovereignty Symposium this year,” said Foye. “Dr. Gus Palmer Jr. was my favorite speaker. His passion and knowledge for his own native language [Kiowa] is a rare commodity in a world where tribal languages around the world are in real danger of extinction.”
The Sovereignty Symposium was established to provide a forum in which ideas concerning common legal issues could be exchanged in a scholarly, non-adversarial environment.
“Students who attend the Sovereignty Symposium have greatly benefited from this opportunity. They are able to gain new contacts that could potentially serve as mentors later in life,” said Sr. Marcianne.
