St. Gregory’s Students Receive Awards from Oklahoma Knights of Columbus
Representatives of the Oklahoma Chapter of the Knights of Columbus continued their tradition of supporting the academic efforts of St. Gregory’s University with a series of special presentations during a recent mass.
Knights of Columbus State Deputy Ron Schwarz and former scholarship chair Paul Martin began by presenting a trio of students with scholarships for academic excellence.
The Al Wheeler Outstanding Freshman Scholarship Award was presented to Lauren Mach, a philosophy major from Arlington, Texas. Fellow philosophy major Emily Kimmel, of Robstown, Texas, received the Outstanding Sophomore Scholarship Award, while Janeth Vasquez, a criminal justice major from Duncan, Okla., received the Outstanding Junior Scholarship Award.
Schwarz and Martin then presented SGU President Greg Main with a check for $27,500 to support the university’s continued mission of educating students according to traditional Catholic and Benedictine values.
“The Knights of Columbus have supported St. Gregory’s University for many years,” Schwarz said, “and we look forward to continuing to do so for many more.”
