St. Gregory’s University to Host Community Blood Drive on April 25
St. Gregory’s University and the Oklahoma Blood Institute (OBI) will be hosting a community blood drive Tuesday, April 25 from 12 p.m. to 5 p.m. in the Great Room of the Rockwood Center on St. Gregory’s Shawnee campus.
Each donor will receive a t-shirt, health screening and Donor Rewards points, which are redeemable for items in OBI’s online store. Donors also have the option to forgo receiving a t-shirt to help donate to the Global Blood Fund (GBF), which helps support struggling blood centers around the world.
In Oklahoma alone, some 600 donors are needed each day to meet the needs of hospital patients. OBI is the ninth largest, nonprofit blood center in America and exclusively provides blood donations for patients in the Angelic Family Hospice and at St. Anthony’s Shawnee Hospital.
Donors must be at least 16 years old and weigh 125 lbs. to participate, they must also provide a signed parental permission slip if under the age of 18. Donors 18 and older must weigh at least 110 lbs.
Donations can be made every 56 days and typically take about an hour. Appointments can be made by calling the Student Life office at St. Gregory’s University at (405) 878-5145. Walk-ins are welcome!
