Mabee Aerobic Center

The Mabee Aerobic Center (MAC) is a modern, multi-purpose health and wellness center located on the St. Gregory’s University campus.

Residents of Shawnee and surrounding areas are welcome to purchase memberships to the MAC and to enjoy all the recreational and workout opportunities the facility offers.

Begin with a visit to the Cardio Room, which features treadmills, ellipticals, Stairmaster equipment and both upright and recumbent stationary bikes. The Cardio Room is also home to a large selection of weight-resistance machines that are ideal for circuit training routines.

If you’d like to add a little more heavy lifting to your workout program, the MAC brags a newly-renovated Weight Room. With free-weights, benches and multiple universal and weight-training pieces, the Weight Room was developed with the needs of St. Gregory’s athletes in mind and provides the perfect workout setting for anyone who wants to stay in top-notch shape.

The MAC has two gymnasiums—the Intramural Gymnasium and the Field House Gymnasium. The Intramural Gymnasium is open to the public most days and is great for playing indoor soccer, basketball or volleyball. The Field House Gymnasium is home to the St. Gregory’s Cavaliers and is the epicenter of game day celebrations.

When the Cavs are not playing at home, MAC members can take advantage of the temperature-controlled Indoor Track that rims the upper deck of the Field House Gym. Walkers and runners who want to avoid Oklahoma’s sometimes extreme weather can take in a bird’s eye view of the Don Sumner Court as they make their daily laps.

Also available for member use are two full-sized Racquetball Courts. Racquetball equipment, along with soccer balls, medicine balls and lap counters, are always available at the MAC front desk.

Members and guests have access to dressing rooms and lockers (charges apply to lockers) and can take advantage of the Dry Sauna for post-workout relaxation.

Extra Advantages

The MAC offers several opportunities for members to receive fitness and workout “help.”

First of all, we offer a wide variety of Fitness Classes, such as aerobics, body sculpting, yoga flex (Hatha Yoga based), Pilates and Zumba.

If you need help getting started, or just want regular encouragement from an expert, the MAC has Fitness Training Assistants who, for an extra fee, can create a workout that is customized to your needs and will take you through it each step of the way.

We also recommend anyone who is starting a new workout program take advantage of our Fitness Assessments, which includes an assessment of current vital signs, body composition, cardio respiratory endurance, muscular endurance and strength.
